This motor was originally derived from Yamaha’s street-legal RD350 and RZ350 motorcycles. Feeding this twin-cylinder setup are dual 26mm Mikuni carburetors that require a precise mix of gasoline and two-stroke oil (pre-mix).

Unlike modern four-stroke ATVs that provide smooth, linear power across the RPM range, the Banshee is famous for its distinct two-stroke "powerband."
